Founder & Executive Director

Master Regina Jiyeon Im is the Founder and Executive Director of Newtopia Enterprise Inc. dba/ Korea Taekwondo (KTKD). She was born in South Korea and immigrated to the United States in 1995. She was a gymnast in Korea and has been training in Taekwondo under various grandmasters in the US since 1999. She currently holds a fifth-degree black belt.

In 2008, she founded Newtopia Enteprsie Inc. She signed an official contract with the New York City Department of Education to teach Taekwondo in NYC schools as a part of the physical education curriculum, an enrichment program, and a family fitness workshop. Her impact has reached over 40,000 NYC students, parents, and teachers.

Master Im has developed a Taekwondo curriculum tailored to the public school environment and a curriculum training Taekwondo instructors. In addition to this, she has created numerous physical materials to bolster her message outside the classroom. She has published ten coloring Taekwondo books called “KTKD Kids Character Developments Series” and “KTKD Kids Taekwondo Knowlege Services” for catered towards younger children. She is the author of “Newtopian,” a book inspiring Taekwondo major students in South Korea to dream big and make a better world through Taekwondo. She also co-authored the best Taekwondo Kid’s book for character development, “Taekwon Tales,” which narrates how Taekwondo education prevents bullying in US Schools.

She opened her Taekwondo center, “Korea Taekwondo-KTKD,” the Home of Life Champions, in 2009, tripled the number of members in 2015 and added another branch in 2021. Korea Taekwondo-KTKD is New York City’s #1 Family Martial Arts Center with the highest number of Taekwondo students in color and black belts. The Taekwondo Center’s accomplishments have been recognized by Taekwondo Headquarters, Kukkiwon, and Korea Taekwondo-KTKD, which has been named the Best Taekwondo Center in the USA. Master Im’s vision has expanded to the opening of Taekwondo centers in Columbus, Ohio. She hopes to improve lives and transform communities, one black belt at a time.

Master Regina Jiyeon Im earned her Taekwondo Master-Instructor License from Kukkiwon, the Taekwondo Headquarters, and her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance and Investments from Baruch College, with a minor in Political Science.

Master Seungrok Kim

Co-Owner & Director

Master Seungrok (SR) Kim is the Co-owner and director of Newtopia Enterprise Inc. dba/ Korea Taekwondo (KTKD). He started as an employee master at KTKD Flushing in 2015 and rose to the position of Co-owner in three years. With his help, the center grew threefold and was able to create another branch, KTKD Corona, in 2021.

Master Kim was a senior student and a chief of staff of legendary 9th-degree black belt Grandmaster Jungrok Kim, who served as the president of Taekwondo Headquarters, Kukkiwon, the highest degree federation. He has over 40 years of experience in the field, earning a sixth-degree black belt, competing in national sparring tournaments in Korea, and standing as a coach, referee, and judge for numerous tournaments in both Korea and the US. In addition, he possesses a second-degree black belt in Hapkido, a second-degree black belt in Judy, and a first-degree black belt in Kumdo. He has also served as a Captain in the South Korean Army.

Master Seungrok(SR) Kim holds a Master of Science in Sport Management from Brooklyn College in New York and a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Chosun University in Korea.
